Shani Amavasya and its beliefs for 2012
Shani amavasya is the day when amavasya falls on Saturday or shanivar. Some of the Hindu communities consider amavasya as an inauspicious event and if the amavasya falls on Saturday, it is considered even more inauspicious. The Hindu communities who follow the solar calendar consider amavasya as a very auspicious day. On the day of shani amavasya, they worship shani dev, who is the supreme god for bringing in fortune.
Lord shani is known by various names like sanaichars, Chava putra, shanishwara etc, the name of amavasya also vary accordingly. Some of Hindu communities consider shani amavasya puja very crucial because it is the way of offering payers to lord shani. It is also believed that through the correct measures of the amavasya puja, lord shani could be pleased and that could decrease the ill effects of the amavasya over his devotees.
Importance and significance of shani amavasya puja
People, who believe much in astrology, observe Shani Amavasya Puja. Devotees also believe that offering prayers and worshipping shani dev could reduce the ill effects in their lives. Shani amavasya 2011-2012 are believed to be the best days to perform tarpan or shraadh to the dead ancestors. The dates for shani amavasya 2012 can be well confirmed by the experts of astrology.
Shani amavasya puja is considered to be more auspicious if it is conducted at shani dham. It is observed in many north Indian families and families living in some regions of Kerala. The people living there follow the solar calendar. Many customs and rituals are performed during the puja. Every little thing is carefully performed. People try their best to please shani dev. Shani dev is considered to be the god fortune. He has the power to bring fortunes and misfortune to anybody’s life.
